DID YOU KNOW?
Geoff Plunkett discovered Koru® as a chance seedling in 1994 near Nelson – New Zealand. Its parentage is unclear as accidental, but the story says it is a cross between Fuji and Braeburn. The Koru apple has gone through quite a few names since it was discovered, firstly referred as the “Kotabaru” apple (in Maori language), then called “Plumac” but finally marketed under the name Koru®. Commercially available from 2013, it is now grown in the USA and New Zealand for whole year supply.
Golden Bay Fruit – as one of its dedicated growers – is proud to be contributing to the success of Koru® apple in New Zealand.
All our Koru® are exported by selected NZ exporters.
